Why SBC isn't just
another media college

Four reasons our students walk into newsrooms while their peers are still figuring out where the press release goes.

01

Guided by Industry Professionals

Our faculty are practising journalists, news producers, PR leads, and ad professionals — not just academics. You learn how the industry actually works, from people who walked into a newsroom this morning.

02

No theory can replace the field

You won't just write essays. You'll produce news bulletins, run live PR campaigns, edit packages on professional software, and pitch real client briefs — from your first semester.

03

Internships with Mumbai's top media houses.

Our students intern where the industry actually happens — not on someone's screenshot of a "Mumbai opportunity." Real bylines, real broadcasts, real campaigns.

04

Career-focused. Not degree-focused.

Designed from real hiring insights, every module prepares you for the role, so you leave ready for work, not just with credentials.

School of Broadcasting and communication is the place where i had the chance to meet like minded fun interactive people. The open environment did not restrict the ideas and aspiration of students and that was refreshing. Getting the chance to meet people from all over the country , a chance to know their culture and eating their food was a pleasant surprise.

If I talk about the golden days in SBC, there will be nothing special in it because college days are Golden in itself for everyone. But for me, it’s not just a memory which I lived in SBC , it’s a Part of Life which gives me strength and Motivation to move forward. The best part of SBC is, SBC trains even a below average student for this competative Era.

Makhanlal Chaturvedi National University of Journalism and Communication is India’s first university dedicated exclusively to Journalism and Communication. Widely recognized among the country’s respected journalism institutions, the university has built a strong reputation for industry-oriented media education and multidisciplinary learning. Established by the Government of Madhya Pradesh in 1990 and recognized under UGC 2(f) & 12(B), MCU combines academic credibility with practical media training. The university was also among the early adopters of NEP 2020, implementing flexible learning systems that encourage students to explore interdisciplinary and industry-relevant skills. The university is regarded as one of the few institutions in Asia focused entirely on developing professionals in journalism, broadcasting, communication, media, and IT through both traditional and modern media practices. Reflecting its national stature, the Hon’ble Vice President of India serves as the Visitor of the university, while the Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh chairs its General Council and Management Committee. The institution’s academic direction is guided by experienced journalists, editors, academicians, media professionals, and communication experts from across the industry.
